A Week With Big Bass Drop

July 13, 2026 · Klara Novakova

I didn't expect to write much about Big Bass Drop. It looked like a five-minute distraction, the sort of thing you delete after a day. A week later it's still on my home screen, and I keep opening it in queues and on the tram.

The core loop is tapping and holding in time with a steady bassline, catching cues as they drop down the screen. It sounds basic because it is, but the tuning is what makes it sing. The timing window feels honest, so when you miss you know it was your fault, and when you nail a hard run you feel it in your hands.

What surprised me most was the flow. On the harder tracks I stopped consciously reading the notes and just let muscle memory take over, and that trance-like feeling is the whole appeal. The soundtrack helps; those low, warm basslines are genuinely good.

My advice: play with headphones and don't chase perfect scores at first. Let a track loop a couple of times, learn its shape, and the whole game clicks into place. It's a small thing done really well.
